There are many ways a person or company can discriminate against another based on their age. Many people suffer age discrimination each day, and a large percentage of them try to shake it off and move on. However, there are times when age discrimination is so severe or costs the victim such a loss that it simply shouldn't be ignored. Age discrimination during interviews

Age discrimination in the workplace can begin the moment you walk in and apply for a job, or it can occur at any time during your employment.

If you go to a job interview for one position and the person tells you that you are too old for that position and then offers you a lower position, this would still be considered age discrimination even though they hired you.

If you go to a job interview and the person interviewing you seems to focus on your age and makes comments about how the job may be too much for someone of your age, or if the person says anything else that lets you know you aren't being given the job because of how old you are, then this is considered age discrimination.

Age discrimination in workplaces

If you have been working at a company and would technically be the next one in line for a promotion but have been passed up based on your age, then this is age discrimination. It doesn't matter what excuse the company gives you; if there is proof that under normal conditions you would be next in line, then age discrimination is pretty obvious.

If your company has recently had to lay off a number of employers and they chose to lay off the oldest workers, then you can figure you are looking at some serious age discrimination. Along these same lines, if a company suddenly decides to downsize and what they have really appeared to do is to get rid of older staff, then this would also fall under age discrimination.
